Privacy choices in LinkLook

Last updated: April 14, 2026

LinkLook is designed to keep as much as possible on your device, and to let you decide when to use cloud features for extra protection.

On-device link checks are always on. On top of that, four optional settings let you pick how thorough LinkLook's checks should be. All four are off until you choose to turn them on.

On-device checks

Always on

LinkLook analyzes the link itself on your iPhone before opening it — domain patterns, brand lookalike detection, URL structure, and more. No data leaves your device.

Threat Database Lookup

Optional · default on

LinkLook compares a short hash prefix of the link against an external threat database to detect known phishing and malware destinations.

What leaves the device: a short hash prefix only — never the full web address.

Cloud link check

Optional · default off

The link you check is sent to LinkLook's server for an AI-based risk check. The page behind the link is not fetched.

What leaves the device: the link, plus minimal request metadata (timestamp, request ID).

Safe Preview

Optional · default off

LinkLook's server fetches the page on your behalf and returns a screenshot, so you can see the page visually without loading it on your device.

What leaves the device: the link. LinkLook's server fetches the page; the screenshot is returned to your device.

Deep Page Analysis

Optional · default off

LinkLook's server fetches the page and analyzes its content to detect fake login forms, brand impersonation, urgency language, and other scam patterns.

What leaves the device: the link. LinkLook's server fetches the page, inspects the content in memory, and returns a risk assessment. Page content is discarded after analysis.

Sensitive data in links

Before sending a link to any cloud feature, LinkLook checks on your device for sensitive data patterns (email addresses, tokens, account IDs, and similar values). If any are found, you see what was detected and can choose to:

How to change these privacy choices

Open LinkLook → Settings → Enhanced Cloud Protection

You can turn each setting on or off independently at any time. Changes take effect immediately.

When you first open LinkLook, a consent screen lets you pick between On-device only, Cloud link check only, and Full cloud protection (all three cloud features). No cloud feature sends any data before you tap one of these options.
